WelcomeOur next and final dance of the season is on May 4, 2012 Our next dance event is Friday, May 4, at the Moose Lodge, 644 West 190th St, Ames, IA. There will be a free Rumba lesson at 7:30pm and then dancing to the music of the the Sentimental Swing Orchestra from 8:00-11:00pm. This will be our final event for this dance year. Our next dance year will begin in October. We are a private dance club. However, if you are not a member and would like to attend as a guest, please contact a member of our Board. Also, visit our Membership page. Red Friars is a private dance group, dancing to the sound of live orchestras performing in the big band style. Dances can include Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Tango, Cha Cha, Mambo, and Polka as well as others. The elegance of the ballroom and music is reflected by the members who attend wearing evening attire — evening or cocktail wear for women and dinner jacket, tuxedo, or business suit for men. Founded in 1934, the Fall of 2011 marks the beginning of the Red Friars' 78th year as a club. Red Friars Dance Club was incorporated as a non-profit corporation on February 12, 1991.
